Get on your mark...get ready...get set...GO PONY GO! The term "pony" car refers to the infamous mid-sized muscle cars introduced by the American big 3 in Detroit over 40 years ago. Of course I'm talking about the Dodge Challenger, Plymouth Cuda, Pontiac Firebird, Chevrolet Camaro, & the king of them all...the Ford Mustang!
Of these mega fast macho machines only 3 are still made today. In fact, sadly only 3 of those 5 brands are even still around. Plymouth I can see Chrysler getting rid of over time because there just never seemed like a strong enough business model there to justify this brand & its products never quite measured up nor clicked with the buying public enough to really call itself a viable and competitive brand. Pontiac's demise however, was a tragic loss that probably could've been stopped. They had just came out with hits such as the Solstice Coupe/Roadster & the Australian built G8 sports sedan when GM decided to pull their feeding tube out. Sad that a brand once famous world wide for producing the black bandit 78 Trans Am just couldn't find its way back to those profitable days of shag carpeting & T-tops! Enjoy my look back at some of the great ones then & today!
