Dig That Shag Carpeting Man...

Ahhh yes most of us remember cars with vinyl bench seats that stuck to our legs on hot summer days, the thick shag carpeting at our feet, AM radios which only seemed to get the same two stations KFI and/or KFWB, & lets not forget when Mr. Roarke taught us all about the rich & luxurious feel of fine Corinthian Leather!
Today's posting is a look back at some god awful interiors from a funky & far out era. Now I know the whole "retro" design theme has made its way onto the outside of a few of today's cars, but I really hope designers don't start thinking about incorporating this into the interiors as well because what you'll see below is not so groovy in my opinion...

Biarritz Tufted Button Style Leather

Cartier Leather w/ Accent Straps

 Plaid Cloth / Vinyl

 Gucci Vinyl w/ Signature Stripe

Barcelona Knit Cloth

Dual Comfort Deveraux Cloth / Leather

Saxony & Whittier Cloth

Knit Cloth / Vinyl

Boca Raton Cloth / Vinyl
Now I would REALLY consider you a TRUE car enthusiast if you knew what cars these came in! Anyone care to guess? Stay tuned for more of these to come...

  1. Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz circa 1979, Lincoln Mark 5 Cartier Edition, Mitsubishi/Plymouth Sapporo ?, AMC Hornet Sportwagen with Gucci package, AMC Javelin "Barcelona", 1969 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham/Sixty Special,
Plymouth Salon?, 1972 Mercury Montego MX Brougham, Plymouth Scamp/Dodge Dart?

  2. Ok Henry...either you're looking these up..or else I've got an absolute identical twin brother that momma never told me about (insert dramatic music from Dallas, Falcon Crest, or The Colby's here)! Nice job, the vomit plaid came from the 78 Dodge Challenger (Sapporo was same damn hideousness), the "Barcelona" package could actually be ordered on Matador not the Javelin but hell you even knew it was called "Barcelona" so tomatO....tOmatO I say!
That gold itchy-in-the-summer cloth is from the 1980 Dodge St. Regis (if only the car had been as fancy as the hotel), you were right on the money for the Montego MX, & the last navajo looking bench beast could be found in the 1976 Plymouth "Silver Duster" but I'll give ya credit for the Dart/Scamp close guess anyway! Again kudos for potentially having a sick sick car brain...use it for good my friend! :)
