IS IT JUST ME?

Call me crazy but I thought the boys at FoMoCo (that's car biz slang for Ford Motor Company) sold their interest in Land Rover/Jaguar quite some time ago? I know they sure packed up their old PAG offices in Irvine quite a while back that's for sure. Anywho, the reason for today's posting is to ask the question is it me or are a few of the crossovers & SUV's from Ford & Land Rover starting to look like they had an appointment with the same designer when it came time to get fitted for the ball?
Maybe it's just me but...if I'm laying down $50k plus for a new Evoque I sure as hell don't want to feel like I just bought a really cool...futuristic looking....Ford? I'm also guessing luxury SUV buyers laying down whatever godawful amount they'll price the redesigned 2014 Range Rover wont be rushing out to do so for a fancied up Explorer!

NEW & IMPROVED for 2013

ACURA
ILX
$27,000
150 hp 4-cylinder
A long overdue affordable, competitive Acura.

RDX
$35,000
275 hp V6
MUCH easier on the eyes than the previous RDX!

RLX
310 hp V6
An expensive replacement for the slowest selling vehicle in history...the RL

HONDA
Fit EV
$389/mo. lease for 3 years ONLY
125 hp EV
If this car were Black w/ Orange wheels on it you'd be looking at the roller skates I used to wear to Skate Junction in West Covina during my pre-teen years!

HYUNDAI
Elantra Coupe
Elantra GT
Coupe $18,000
GT $19,000
150 hp 4-cylinder
LOVE the Coupe but the GT not so much
Hatchback styling just doesn't send me.
Santa Fe
$25,500
190 hp 4-cylinder
Very nice upscale looking redesign; From a product/marketing point of view once again Hyundai brings it!

INFINITI
JX
$41,000
265 hp V6
A luxury crossover with lots of room, decent power, & gobs of technical features that no soccer mom should be without.
I love Infiniti's sexy design language HOWEVER that sexiness in their current EX & FX crossovers means cramped back seats, poor rear visibility, & hardly any cargo space.

NISSAN
Altima
$22,500
180 hp 4-cylinder
I cannot say enough good things about the redesigned Altima!
Enough horsepower to make a difference when passing at highway speeds
38 MPG in a car this size in this segment is UNHEARD OF!
Tech features galore
Have you seen how good looking it is vs. last years model?

LEXUS
ES
$37,000
270 hp V6
Better looking than this photo suggests but you can only restyle a Camry so much.
GS
$48,000
305 hp V6
Again, if it wasn't for the recent trapezoidal front end design this car would be just as traditionally boring as the rest of the Lexus line-up.
LS
$73,000
380 hp V8
Saw a car carrier recently w/ a load of these on it & said "oh there's the new LS...errr....GS...ohhh.....wait a sec they were ES's!  Ya catchin what I'm throwing back at ya here?

MAZDA
CX-5
$22,000
155 hp 4-cylinder
I really like this small crossover but haven't driven one yet
I'm thinking 155 hp ain't gonna be quite enough to cut the mustard when needed.

BMW
X1
$31,500
240 hp Turbo 4-cylinder
Another overpriced BMW crossover!
6-Series Gran Coupe
$77,000
315 hp Twin Turbo 6-cylinder
A classic example of how jacked up the auto industry is these days.
It wasn't too long ago that the body style "coupe" stood for a 2-door vehicle.
M5
$92,000
560 hp Twin Turbo V8
Nice...wouldn't shop it myself personally....but still a nice fast car overall I suppose.

AUDI
RS 5
$70,000
450 hp V8
You can never go wrong with an S or RS Audi
S6
$72,500
420 hp Turbo V8
See above for a generalized opinion
S7
$78,000
420 hp Turbo V8
See above for a generalized opinion
S8
$111,000
520 hp Turbo V8
See above for a generalized opinion

CADILLAC
ATS
$34,000
200 hp 4-cylinder
Liking it so far...

CHEVROLET
Spark
$13,000
85 hp Ecotec 4-cylinder
Anything BUT a Spark is more like it!
Malibu
$26,000
180 hp Ecotec 4-cylinder
The new Chevrolet Bland!

DODGE
Dart
$17,000
160 hp 4-cylinder
A nice design wrapped up in a pretty competitive package overall.
Viper
640 hp V-10
BUTT....ASS...FAST

LINCOLN
MKZ
$36,000
240 hp EcoBoost Turbo 4-cylinder
Now THIS is what Lincoln needed to do quite some time ago...shake things up a bit!

FORD
Fusion
$22,500
170 hp 4-cylinder
I like the current gen Fusion so...
Escape
$23,500
170 hp 4-cylinder
See "Is it Just Me": posting for summary on this.
C-MAX
$26,000
188 hp 4-cylinder Hybrid
The jury is still out on this one...
Focus EV
$40,000
120 hp EV
Can't wait to see if the electric vehicle craze ever really catches on enough to justify $40,000 for a freakin FOCUS!
