ADS FROM MY PAST

Sometime around the spring of 1997 at the ripe young age of 28 I submitted my resume to a local automotive firm looking for an account coordinator. When I arrived at the secure facility in the industrial part of Long Beach called Signal Hill, I wasn't allowed in past the enclosed lobby area. As I filled out the application, stretching the truth here & there as we all have done a time or two in our lives, I looked around at the various framed photos of work this company had done & their list of current & past clientele; American Honda, Subaru of America, Volvo Cars of North America to name just a few. I wasn't sure yet what this company did exactly but one thing I did know for sure I wanted to be a part of whatever it was! I submitted the application with their H.R. rep Audry & waited. I sent Audry a very nice floral arrangement about a day or so later as both a gesture of thanks for her time & consideration as well as a ploy to keep my resume at the top of the list. Cheesy as that sounds it worked because the next day I received a phone call from the co-owner of the firm saying how impressed he was of my resume but even more importantly how classy & different he thought it was of me to send Audry flowers. We proceeded in scheduling the interview that would change my life forever.
The company was L.A. Prep, a vehicle prep & logistics firm established in 1989 & still in operation today (although I'm still amazed how). The man who introduced a whole new side of the car industry I never even knew existed was Mr. Scott Faerber (born 1962; deceased 2011). Rest in Peace Scott I hope when you left us it was with the knowledge of how much you were respected by your colleagues in the automotive advertising industry & how much you were loved by your family & friends.
During & after the years I spent at L.A. Prep, I saved a few of the MANY automotive print ad & dealer brochure projects I worked on & have scanned a few of my favorites.
